  • Flamingo Hotel?

My buddies and I are coming to Vegas this summer. We've been hitting the Vegas scene for many years and stayed at Encore the last two times. Encore is awesome for all the right reasons. But we are looking for a change of pace this summer. Currently we plan on staying at Linq, but we are also considering Planet Hollywood and The Flamingo. We are in our 40's but young at heart. We can still party with the best of the bunch. That being said, I feel that Planet Hollywood might be too much of a younger crowd for us all day and all night long. My concern with Linq is that the pool scene might be too mild for my taste. Don't need a huge pool party every day like Encore Beach Party (which is completely awesome by the way). But would like a hotel with a lively pool scene and not totally family oriented. Also, I hear that the Flamingo has been renovated and modernized. But I feel it's still an old school hotel and casino. Not sure about staying there. Anyone have opinions and experiences with any of these places? I like to hear the good and the bad.

The MGM Lazy river might be what you're looking for. Stayed there once and had a blast at that pool. Fun and lively environment.

I stayed at the Flamingo for a week last summer with three friends. The room had been updated, but still was not anything special. I had multiple problems with being put in the wrong room (one bed, instead of two), which due to lines took FOREVER to sort out. Also, for some reason, the keys kept messing up. The pool is the main reason why I am staying there again this year. There is a separate pool, which is just for 21 and up. It is a nice lively environment, but not as wild as the others. Buckets of beer were around 40 bucks, and a DJ usually shows up in the afternoon. If you want more than two chairs, we were in line an hour before the pool opened (10 AM), and grabbed four. If I'm not mistaken, any Total Rewards hotel guest can be admitted in the pool, so the LINQ would be good there.

Encore is definitely on a different level than Flamingo/Linq/Planet Hollywood. There's nothing wrong with those hotels, they are totally fine..just set the expectations.
Agreed with SirIceCream above, I believe if you stay at any of the Caesar's hotels you can access Flamingo pool (might be a nominal charge, I can't remember). Of the three hotels, Planet Hollywood has the best casino and restaurants, but yeah Flamingo has the best pool. I believe Planet Hollywood has recently renovated many of their rooms as well.

I've stayed at all 3 and never had any real issues with any of them.

All three are on great locations on the Strip but my pick out of the three would be Planet Hollywood...best crowd, most bars, and action on the floor.

Flamingo did get a renovation (I stayed there once on a total rewards comp) and although I did enjoy the pool area. I found myself not spending much time on the property.

Also keep in mind that you get free entry in Drai's Beach Club when you stay at a Caesar's Property. I have the Total Rewards App, and they sent me offers for free express entry and admission.
          Next trip: ???

Thanks for the responses guys. I am certainly not comparing the Caesars hotels to Encore. Clearly a big difference in the top tier of Encore respective to the other hotels. For those of you who stayed at Flamingo, is it impossible to grab more than just 2 or 3 lounge chairs at the over 21 pool without arriving at the crack of dawn? I recall my earlier years in Vegas when we used to stay at Hard Rock and the pool was so rockin' by 10AM that we would have to pay the pool runners $$$ to grab us chairs. And that was conditional that one or 2 guys from our crew would make the sacrifice of getting down to the pool early in the morning so the rest of us could nurse our hangovers. I would rather not deal with that kind of lively scene if you know what I mean.
As far as Planet Hollywood. Is the scene predominantly 25 year olds? Drunken and staggering around the whole casino and hotel once nighttime arrives?

You shouldn't have a problem getting chairs at the Flamingo, it'll obviously pick up later in the day (around 1-2pm) but as a "low key" pool. You're good to go.

For your question about Planet Hollywood, the hotel itself doesn't feature a premier nightclub...thus it won't pull the type of drunken crowd that other hotels will bring out in the evenings. From my experience, I seen more of the obnoxious younger drunks at the cosBROpolitan in the afternoons/evenings.

Planet Hollywood is a great vibe and scene, and the crowd isn't obnoxious at all! But the pool is a little lacking

Do you need to book directly with the casino for the Drai's free entry or would you still get it going through Booking.com?

I've booked the Flamingo for the Canelo v GGG weekend so it'd be cool if that free entry still worked going through Booking.com
