View Full Version : What's the biggest single bet you made on a roulette table?
ubertwin 08-01-2010, 06:52 PM Me and my ten buddies are all going 200 bucks in a pot and throwing it on the roulette table, one bet, roll the dice. Thats a 2k one time bet.
We're either going Black or Red, odd or even. just a straight double or nothing ride.
We've agreed that we'll keep rolling if we win the first bet but will walk away after three bets if we get that far ( which we won't ).
Anyone ever do this with a group of buddies at the start of a trip? Let lady luck step in? What's the most you won?
why combine money for an even money bet?

First of all; Like.
why combine money for an even money bet?
Second though, Dnix has a point. Why not do $200 on ten different numbers? Someone check me if I'm wrong, but if one of those numbers hits it's $7500, a much better payout than the $2000 you'd get otherwise. Still think that's a cool idea though. Those 30 seconds are going to be great. Remember to use your Player's Card!!!!!!!!!!
ubertwin 08-02-2010, 05:34 PM We could spread the bets around, but it kind of becomes more a thing than just saying F*ck it, let it roll on Back, lets see what this weekend is made of.
Chances are it won't come in but i read a cool story about a guy from the UK that sold his apartment and all his possessions and flew to vegas ( the MGM I think ) and threw his entire worth on red.
He won and he took his winnings, walked out the Hotel and flew straight back to England.
I would have flown straight to Spearmint Rhino's via the Ferrari dealership outside The Wynn, but thats me.

It'll still be a fuck it lets roll weekend, whatever you decide to do. Keep us updated, I want to know how it turns out.
Whiggi 08-03-2010, 11:46 AM Sounds like a hell of an idea
If you are looking for the excitement factor roulette is def. the way to go!
But make sure you do it at a table with better odds. Most casino's have a double 0 wheel, with a 5+% house edge.
Though I hear if you head to some of the more upmarket casino's like Wynn you will find European wheels which only have one 0, bringing the house edge to around 2.5%
The UK man foolishly did not go for a European wheel. but he still won, lucky a**hole.
IF you however DO NOT care about the excitement factor go find a baccarat game. There are 3 different bets on that, Banker, Player or Tie.
I dont have the exact percentages but Banker is the favourite to win over player by a few percent... lets say 47% of the time banker will win, 45% player will win, and the rest will b e a Tie (if a Tie comes up bank and player do NOT lose and you can go again).
So what you are seeing is a bet that will win the (slight) majority of the time. If you bet $2000 you will either win 2000 back (on an EVEN MONEY game unless bank wins on 6 which pays half what you bet, 1:2. Unfavourable.), OR $1900, where %5 of what your winnings is kept as commission. Either way IF i were to bet $2000 in one go this would be the game for me :D
GOOD LUCK
ubertwin 08-03-2010, 02:40 PM Thanks man, I've never played that before but I'm going to look into it.
We'll be at the encore so will be looking for a euro table for sure.
I'll let you know how it all goes, most likely I'll post something up here after we do it.
Sensei Rob 08-04-2010, 12:13 AM Easiest game on earth! I didny play it in vegas. In oz they go through a deck of cards per hand.
Whiggi 08-05-2010, 02:24 AM which game goes through a deck of cards per hand?
baccarat goes through a maximum of 6 cards per hand
I have a tradition of throwing $1k down on Red right after I check in to the hotel. It either doubles my gambling money or it's a sign that the gambling Gods don't want me to go crazy during the stay.
I've had success with it in 3 out of the last 4 trips.

Thats fucking badass. I wish I had the balls to do that.
Troutster 09-06-2010, 06:15 PM That sounds like an absolutely crazy brave idea!!
On the dying hours of the penultimate night of my '08 trip I realised that I hadn't had a proper gamble in Vegas over the twice (then) that i'd been, so after leaving Privé in PH in a sorry state (a random unplanned night and a totally different story), I found a $10 min Roulette table and emptied my wallet on the felt, counted up around $150 and dropped $100 of my chips on red.
My mate (who i'll refer to as Goose to protect identities) looked in amazement at what i'd just done.
The ball rolled and hit black.
Goose told me that i'd just lost, still shell shocked that I emptied my wallet for one spin, and I just shrugged it off and went to the bar.
Bit of a crazy moment (for me), but that's what Vegas is all about. Win Some, Lose loads ;)
partylikarockstar 10-11-2010, 03:54 PM Another idea, though it won't pay out as much but has better odds, is to split the $200 into two separate $100 bets on the thirds. So you'll have $1,000 sitting in one of the thirds and the other $1,000 sitting in another. That way you've now got more of the numbers covered versus simply just the blacks or reds (50% of the numbers each). Of course there is always the damn 0's which is what gives the house the edge. Of course it's impossible to win both third bets, so you'll lose one automatically but the other will pay out 3:1 so you essentially just doubled your bet just as if you would have placed $1,000 on black, red, odd or even! Basically by betting this way you have about a 63% chance of hitting (and that's including the two damn green 0's).
Let's get complicated now: I have to be honest though, since those two zeros don't count toward any third section, if one of those hit you're S.O.L. Which is why the casino still has an advantage, but your odds of hitting increase versus Black, Red, Odd or Even. Hope it all made sense to everyone....
IRockNvegas 10-11-2010, 09:29 PM I usually like sucker bets on craps, 30-1 , hopping 2 or 12. when I play roulette I play one those pit style setups. Where there are computer monitors giving you key statistics on hot and cold numbers , I have used that to my advantage several times. There is still a dealer rolling the ball it's just nice to know when the last time say a 31 has come up....if it has been a long stretch I will start placing bets usually splitting clusters with a chip stack.
Vadiksf415 10-11-2010, 09:59 PM Playing blackjack, I was playing $500 hand. Most of the time that $500, turned into either $1000-$1500 due to double down or split+double down.

Let me summarize this strategy as I have used this (it's fun and simple). You have a 63% chance of a 33% increase or a 32%(?) chance of losing double. Either way, the longer you play, you will lose.
partylikarockstar 10-12-2010, 09:53 AM Yes. Roulette is not a game to sit and play. If you sit for long periods of time, shit probably more than a handful of turns, you will start to lose money even with my strategy. It's just an idea to try to get a few good turns, then I would suggest leaving!
khristina 11-04-2010, 11:55 PM my biggest single bet is around 10000 usd..
then i lost it thats bad

Yeah. This last trip I put 100$ on black twice and won both times but you've got to get up and walk away after that.

It really set the tone for the weekend. Pretty awesome! Where were we the second time??

Vadiksf415 11-09-2010, 09:32 AM After my latest trip, I dunno if it was the biggest single bet I made or not but I was playing $2500 a hand black jack.
WarreN 11-10-2010, 11:41 AM this is the end result of all the bright lights, the comp trips, all the champagne and free hotel suites, and all the broads and all the booze. It's all been arranged just for us to get your money.

IRockNvegas 11-11-2010, 06:24 AM I played 45 lines max bet on a nickle slot once. What a rush.

haha
rjleslie 11-11-2010, 06:30 PM I've seen some interesting things happen on a roulette table. Few years ago on a Bahamas cruise, buddy of mine dropped a $50 on a number in the Atlantis casino. Hits! A few hours later on the boat, does the same thing again on a single number, hits! Unreal. I definitely don't have that like but I am liking some of the strategies in here.
35 days and counting...
JuneBug 11-23-2010, 12:22 PM i am more of a BlackJack player, however, me and my group of buddies always monitor the Roulette tables. Whenever we see 7 or more of one color in a row, we immediately walk up and toss $100 on the opposite color, if it hits, take our original $100 back and ride the winning $100 for another spin or two, if it lasts we have sometimes walked away with $3-400 on that original c-note....on the flipside, sometimes we lose that first spin and just walk away. ill admit those pesky 0's and double 00's piss us off to no end, but thats just part of it. i have not seen too many of those European wheels without the Zero's though....Last year my friend and i paid for our trip doing this on Roulette, this was at the MGM.....
nickj7777 12-06-2010, 06:31 PM 4k on red
JuneBug 12-07-2010, 07:13 AM 4k on red

keith77 01-09-2011, 08:33 AM Nice nice... The spread does makes sense but yeh still a HIT and see how the GOD's are today :D
Brighton Grosvenor CASINO iv done a few £500 chuck downs .. been well happy and well *shrug and get another nice drink* :D
K
YellowandNavy 01-10-2011, 08:47 PM I put $100 on black (this wasn't my intention at all but i was too drunk :D) and lost it. Quickest $100 I lost, took 5 seconds.
Does 3 big bets at the roulette table (assuming you win the first 2) rate less than 3 big bets at craps considering your money will be "in play" for longer?
frofan 01-26-2011, 04:29 AM Leaving tomorrow and one of the guys thinks he is going to own the roulette table. The last time we went he lost all of his money faster than I could give it away.
livingvicariously 01-26-2011, 06:23 AM Can we count the stock market as a game of a roulette? Have some pretty big bets in that LOL
twentyseven 02-01-2011, 10:39 AM We do something similar (albeit smaller) to start each of our trip...it's become a bit of a tradition for us. We call it Shock and Awe. One number on a roulette table, $20. We cover the number with a few bucks, then scatter the rest of the chips around the sides and corners of that number. Spin once and walk away. I won a couple of trips ago on 17 -- my $20 bet turned into $300 or so. Which is significant for me, I'm a low roller with a $500 bankroll for a weekend.

I do the same thing, especially when I have a gut feeling that it'll be the opposite color.
No more than about $10 - $20 for me. In Feb last year a mate did $25 on 5 and it came in.
I also had the luck of my final bet in Vegas was $5 on 6 (my only bet of the day) just before we left he casino and it came in, that got spent on duty free at the airport.
In May I'm trying to get the lads to have a few silly bets that we do each day.
Thinking $5 each on different numbers on roulette, any winnings go towards the happy hour pot.
Maybe do the same with a choosen slot machine.
I have a tradition of throwing $1k down on Red right after I check in to the hotel. It either doubles my gambling money or it's a sign that the gambling Gods don't want me to go crazy during the stay.
I've had success with it in 3 out of the last 4 trips.
Didn't do the $1k on Red this time.
Instead, bet $1k on the Super Bowl Coin Toss.
I was very happy when that coin came up Heads.
CoachBlaylock 02-14-2011, 06:26 AM Ok....let me first preface this by saying that this happened last year in Biloxi (unfortunately not Vegas). Me and 3 buddies headed out for a 2 night guys trip to gamble, drink, etc. We are FAR from high rollers (average 25 year olds). On the trip over (about an hour) we began talking about how much of our trip money we could lose and not have a miserable weekend. Each of our weekend budgets was about $1000.
We decided to each take $500 and throw it down on red. We figured that if we won.....then hell yeah! If we lost, well....we could still have a pretty good time with $500.
We took a few shots after we checked in (so we wouldn't lose our nerve), and headed to the table. It felt REEEALLY High-Rollerish to walk up and say "$2000 on red. Ha!
It was the most nerve racking, awesome, intense, and terrible 8 seconds until the ball landed.......on RED!!!!!!
We went nuts, and had a ridiculous weekend. I would love to do it again next weekend in Vegas, but I don't know if the wife will go for it. LOL!
naterizzle 02-15-2011, 12:38 PM I usually do $50 on Red right after checking in as a tradition. After a few too many drinks one time, I put $800 on Red. The wheel started spinning and the ball was bouncing. As things slowed down, the ball settled on.....
Fucking 00 green. FML, but that's why it's called "gambling" and not "winning."
luckythirteen 02-15-2011, 12:59 PM won 11k on the Packers. My avatar is my winnings from the last AOD in May 2010

I had a good weekend so before checkout bet $1,000 on black. I won. Headed to the cage, cashed out and enjoyed the flight home. Bought my mom a kick ass bday present.
BigDex14 02-17-2011, 11:05 AM I plan on doing the split 3rd's bet for a total of $1k as soon as I check in. $500 on the 1st Column, $500 on the 2nd Column... unless I wuss out at reduce it down to $500 total $250/$250
We'll see how that goes in July, should either make or break my gambling for the remainder of the trip haha
AussieNash 03-09-2011, 06:10 AM $10
josemcorona 03-09-2011, 02:23 PM I've done a couple $100 bets, always bet on red but after my last trip might have to start betting on black. Oh yeah F#&k them 0's!
Nakom99 03-10-2011, 10:28 AM Not roulette but a good story none the less. Came out of Pure after bottle service with 12 friends and played beer pong at O'Sheas. Needless to say I was hammered.
Went to a pai gow tiles table on the way to my room at the Mirage and bet $300. Won and doubled = $1200. Won and doubled = $2400. Won and doubled = $4800. Won and doubled = $9600. Decided to cash out. Went to the cage and they would not pay me without my passport.
Said fuck it and went to bed. Woke up in the morning with over $9000 in chips on the ironing board. I ask my buddy in the other bed if they were his and he say no. So I say where the fuck did they come from, they are not mine. He says beats me.
So we meet the boys for breakfast and they start telling us the story of what happened at the pai gow table last night. So I had $9000 and I had no idea how or where it came from. If I was sober there is no way I would have tried to double $300 5 X. So we made a reservation at Tao for bottle service that night and I got the check for the 12 of us and any ladies that joined us. 7 of the 12 hooked up (including me). What a weekend!!
