View Full Version : Just got back- Club review.
TonyB 03-22-2010, 01:10 PM Tao (Thursday) The line was outreageous at 1045. Thank go I used the site and name dropped a name T Paoli gave me, and it got us to the fornt but we still had to grease $20 per guy (4) ) not bad. The prblem is the place is just wayyy to crowded. We are pretty decent looking guys who like to talk to a group of girls dance, get a drink or two and just have a good itme with no expectations. Problem is its just basically a conveyour belt, people walking past people. The VIP tables, dont seem worth it because you just get people walking by who "have to keep walking by" because bouncers are shining lights in your face. Had to grease $50 to get to the platform and private bar but dont know if that was worth it. the place had some talent but too crowded and easy to get seperated.
Drais- Thursday night.perfect remedy from crowded tao, great music and not so croded you cant help but kiss who you are talking to. but head bouncer, was pestering me all night wondering if I was on "E" Im not here to say i was or wasnt but who cares if i order 5 bottles of water and dancing all over. Dancing with lost of diff girls, and everyone having fun. I think the boucners at Drais arent the right type of bouncers. They seem like the Truckee/Chico red neck type who think anyone in a ted baker shirt, is gay and shouldnt be there. Place was great as usual but cmon, only 50% of people are partying "naturally" at 430 am, to throw this righteous "i know your on something " routine seems like your biting the hand that feeds you.
Xs ( Friday) Plus - got there at 11am, when it the pay line, fast 4 minutes no grease and walked right in. Its VIP central but are you really VIP when 90% of the club goers have VIP? the crowd was good but you could tell the drink prices were killing some people. Girls danceing with you and you get them a drink and 4 friends behind looking at you with puppy dog eyes. i felt like ordering one drink with 5 straws. I know its a big club so they let in everyone but saw groups of guys doing body bumps near dj booth, near outside area, guys coming down the stairs onn piggy backs. It was amatuer hour for a while. the music was good, and the outside area dancing was cool. Great places to walk around and then go back to table. The bartenders and bouncers were the best but you take away the venue and staff and you had a really amatuer crowd. One vip table next to the dance floor just were brooding at girls for at least two hours, Again guys who spent wayy over thier head didnt want to be left out of the drink mix.
Palms after- Horrid. Bad crowd , tow bouncers wouldnt take our money, then found smaller bouncer who glady took our $100 and skipped what look like a 2 hour line. got in and we only stayed because we just greaded a bouncer, Bad crowd , shoulder bumping and the girls were treaturous to look at it. East San Jose planted in Vegas. Again lots of sober girls just waiting for someone to buy them a drink. One girl said I was cheap because i only wanted to buy her a drink and not 6 frinds 6 wet pussy shots. couldnt get out of there fast enough.
mrankimonki 03-22-2010, 01:22 PM niceeee - sounds like u checked out a lot places! way to do vegas. kinda agree with u about the clubs

Which Palms club did you go to?
TonyB 03-22-2010, 01:38 PM Rain.
Did you at least have a good time while you were there??? Your review gives me the impression your werent pleased with any of the clubs. :(
Universal 03-22-2010, 02:00 PM Rain.
For future reference, only go to Rain on Saturdays.
masterdeviance 03-22-2010, 02:01 PM I'm with you on Rain. Perfecto might be worth it, but otherwise that place is like a mass of ppl that couldn't get into Tryst XS or Vanity that night. Love the East SJ reference lol. Weakest club I went to on my last trip (Fri night). If I'm @ The Palms I'd rather just hit up Moon or even Playboy Club.
I've always had a good time at Tao, though. It's crowded on Thursdays yeah, but not as bad as it gets on Fri or Sat. And the crowd is better looking Thur anyway.

I "liked" them all except Rain
Tao was just too crowded. But great venue and talent
Drais was great minus the FBI
I think XS was like the movie "hurt locker" had I not heard all the hype, I would of really enjoyed it but expecting so much, XS was pretty good but I was thinking i would leave the club wanting to rent a VIP table to live in there.
I was really just trying to bring out some of the things I didnt like.
Bank was solid on Sat.
Weird they kept hassling you about E, it kinda comes with the territory being in a nightclub. Not like you're going to start fights on it.
rjleslie 03-22-2010, 04:44 PM Rain as ghetto? Wow, I thought all of the Vegas clubs kept out the usual crowd sporting jerseys, hats, tanks, large chains, baggy jeans, air force ones, etc. that would typically classify a place "ghetto". We had no issues back in December with the crowd at any of the Palms clubs on a Friday night. Maybe a tad slow due to the season and whatnot, but my wife and I made the most of it- plenty of room to hang out, dance, laugh our asses off at a very drunk bachelorette party, etc. The bar tenders took very good care of us.
We experienced Tao on the next night and I would fully support your conveyor belt logic. The only way I would go to Tao again would be with a table though. It was overly packed the night we went and seemed on par with an "amateur" type crowd, that or a very young 21 yr old crowd that I would classify as an 18 and up crowd back here in Michigan. If I was a single guy there with a group of friends, I wouldn't have been too impressed with the scenery. Maybe a few more shots would've fixed that. The bar tenders were great though and easily took care of us. We took full advantage of the open bar deal that they gave my wife for the first few hours.
mrankimonki 03-22-2010, 05:37 PM I've had mixed experiences at Tao. But one thing is certain - the best night is thursday night. And its definitely a younger crowd than the ones at XS/Jet/etc. At least from my experiences.

Yea and we got in with no issues, there was only two of us at that point. Lost two buddies at Tao but not only a club in Vegas but one like Drais at that. Really have no alternative but to be sord of wimpy and just say no sir i havent, being our first night didnt want to get nixed on that place but a little weird. Again the bouncers IN the club seemed a bit more redneckish.

I am going by the crowd, not really the clothes. anyone can put on a sweater vest and a collar shirt to get it. But you get the shoulder bump, the stare downs which is fine but it was mainly the girls seemed scandalous. Just based on my experience when you offer a girl a drink and you dont want to buy all 6 of her friends a drink as well , and she starts arguing forget it. Its one thing if its another girl or two but you get the sense thats the plan they have.
royale 03-23-2010, 08:48 AM How many people were in your party that you had to grease $200 for?
Monty 03-23-2010, 06:37 PM I enjoyed Rain, one of my favorite clubs from what i've sampled so far. I did go on a Saturday tho @ Perfecto and I love those tunes! :-)

/agree My most memorable clubbing night out in vegas was Oakenfold for perfecto at Rain... We did have a table up top and the production going on all around us was pretty cool... made you feel like you were inside a cirque show :)
dogeaters 03-23-2010, 06:59 PM The only way I would go to Tao again would be with a table though.
I feel the same way about tao... beautiful club, good vibe... great for singles imo... but if you have couples with you... definitely recommend a table...

There were only 4 guys, so $100 at Tao entrance but we didnt get a wristband for the vip so another $100 for that. I didnt hold it against any club because i had to tip, i blame that on impatience.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I totally relate to you on this. Luckily it hasn't happened to me in Vegas where the drinks are extremely expensive, but in Minneapolis and other cities around the country I have experienced that same ploy...I wouldn't mind buying one girl a drink, especially if she seemed to show interest in me, but for all her friends is ridiculous, as if all of them are broke but decided to go out together, lol.
A couple of times a girl has asked me if I would like to do a shot with her and her friends. Thinking they were going to buy me a shot of something I agreed, and as a gentleman I even was about to offer to pay for my own shot until I'm hit with the truth of the offer. They meant that I would pay for all of the shots and I just got one too. The server would come around and all 5 or 6 girls would point at me and just stand there until it got too awkward and then I would pay because that's the honorable thing to do as a guy in my opionion, and in the places it's happened, the total bill wouldn't be too high. As revenge I would be that tag-along guy who hangs around them all night. I'm not a creep, but when I pay for a drink, it's like an investment, lol. I'm just following it for decent returns.
Heck, when a girl buys me a drink without me getting her one first I don't know what to do. I'm not sure if it's a trick, or if I'm being agressively hit on or something like that. Should I dance for her? I usually end up buying that girl a couple of drinks or shots in return, and don't care really if she doesn't want to leave the club with me (not that it was my goal in the first place, lol).
Sorry for the long hijack, but you brought up something that really got my mind going...

Oh man... I would absolutely refuse to pay if some chicks attempted to trick me into buying them a round ... gentleman shmentleman!!
Yeah, I had mug written all over my face that night. After that I refused to buy a girl anything unless she bought me something first. And when I said that I tagged along with them after, I meant that I treated them like they had been purchased. I'm never like that as I do my best to respect all women but they shredded their respect for themselves and especially for me at that point.

Yea i just asked he bluntly (i was buzzed though) did you want me to get you a drink or do you want to argue about your friends drinks. Of course after that there is nothing there but at least I dont look like osme cheapskate but i dont give in.

an the shot thing happened to me at Drais; a girl and 4 friends, said "lets go do a shot" so i go up to the bar an dthank god i had no attention span because i just walked over to someone else, but now thinking about it, I am sure that would of been exactly what you said. When your dancing house, everyone is just dancing, there is no affiliation there to deserve a drink
BritishV 03-25-2010, 05:37 PM Just for the record the only guys I'll let buy me drinks are ones I'm really into...but got to admit if I'm going to snog em, they can buy me a drink whilst they're at it....never crossed my mind to get the other girls one too...that's just cheap!
rocco 03-25-2010, 07:12 PM After reading all this I'm more confused than before. Reconsidering Tao if its that crowded. Is there even any room to dance or is it wall to wall on the dance floor?
rocco 03-25-2010, 07:16 PM we are planning for sat april 24th

enjoyed reading your reviews.
uhh, i can't' believe she argues with you and called you a cheapskate. she was probably just embarassed though to get rejected.
I guess you're too much of a gentleman, but you shoudl have said something like, yeah, i'll buy your six friends drinks too, but you better be f^&king awesome in bed later.. or, maybe later, when i'm more drunk, and you appear better looking and i can see past your ego and sense of entitlement.. ;)
After reading all this I'm more confused than before. Reconsidering Tao if its that crowded. Is there even any room to dance or is it wall to wall on the dance floor?
It's pretty much wall to wall on the main dance floor. you're basically moving as one.
I think you should experience Tao. It's a beautiful club, and worth to at least take a look around if you're going to be in Vegas.
rocco 03-26-2010, 04:33 AM maybe we'll just stick with our plan of eating at TAO and doing the nightclub after. We've really only got one night set aside for going to a club so I want to make sure we do it right.

That would be so awesome, I could only hope to be so quick on my feet with a witty reply like that.
ellejay 03-26-2010, 09:48 AM Ok not to be off topic but to reply to the buying drinks thing...how many girls actually do this? I would never ask anyone to buy me anything and it is classless. I hope in the future you men will see it as a red flag when you are ASKED for something. After all you are strangers and most men OFFER If they want to do something. I bet a lot of girls would agree with me when I say that more often than not I will turn down an offer for a drink because I don't want to spend time with the person and all that comes along with a "free" drink. Anyway never let anyone ask you to buy them something make you feel rude for not doing it. Those types are users and trash.
Ok I feel better now that I got that out!
IRockNvegas 03-26-2010, 10:06 AM Only way you will be able to tolerate Tao's crowd is if your really wasted, have experience being packed together at concerts or have a table, besides that you will last about a hour.

a real minnesotan would've turned off that minnesota nice and put those tramps in their place!
wisepalladin 03-27-2010, 01:25 PM Nohangovers, I'm originally from Wisconsin. I drink beer. I should have refused the offer and had her get me a pbr tallboy. That's what I get for forgetting my roots, lol.

Tao is a real nice club and really the place to be on Thursdays, but after a n hour, you will want to go elsewhere, even the bars get so packed you almost feel like ordering double drinks.
If your loking to dance. Tao is not the spot, if your looking for speed dating before you get whisked away by the traffic police (bouncers) your in the right spot. all honesty, its a great place to check out, then go somewhere else. Try not to grease too much to get in.

I guess you're too much of a gentleman, but you shoudl have said something like, yeah, i'll buy your six friends drinks too, but you better be f^&king awesome in bed later.. or, maybe later, when i'm more drunk, and you appear better looking and i can see past your ego and sense of entitlement.. ;)
LOL, that funny. I was alittle buzzed and never like arguing with a lady because if i say something rude,, she heads to the bouncer, and guess who wins that battle. I dont mind getting tossed out of a bar for being to agressive with Salma Hayek but not for a 5-6
TonyB 03-27-2010, 06:59 PM Only way you will be able to tolerate Tao's crowd is if your really wasted, have experience being packed together at concerts or have a table, besides that you will last about a hour.
Ditto

I would never ask anyone to buy me anything and it is classless. I hope in the future you men will see it as a red flag when you are ASKED for something. After all you are strangers and most men OFFER If they want to do something. I bet a lot of girls would agree with me when I say that more often than not I will turn down an offer for a drink because I don't want to spend time with the person and all that comes along with a "free" drink. Anyway never let anyone ask you to buy them something make you feel rude for not doing it. Those types are users and trash.
Ok I feel better now that I got that out![/QUOTE
well to be fair i asked her after we danced if she wanted a drink, then she laid on the 6 friends to buy them drinks.
Maybe I'm just an asshole, but I don't buy girls drinks who ask for them. I usually counter with something along the lines of 'I don't buy drinks for girls who ask, but you can get me one'. Which results in me getting a free drink maybe 25% of the time.
nohangovers 03-27-2010, 11:00 PM do they even serve PBR's in vegas?
If a chick ask me to buy her a drink, I ask her if I look like fuckin T-Pain
wisepalladin 03-28-2010, 08:36 AM do they even serve PBR's in vegas?
Probably at some smaller dive off the strip. I can't picture any exclusive establishment serving me a tallboy. It's the equivalent of requesting bottle service at the double down, lol.
nohangovers 03-28-2010, 11:49 PM haha, im afraid of going to any off strip bars, a few years ago i went to this place call the office i think, and almost got beat up by a tranny and a pimp..
