Does anyone else have different categories of friends? For me, I have close circles of friends, that I know will be friends for life. We have all known each other for a long time, have been through a lot together, but now have gone into different paths in life. Some still live close, but some live abroad. Despite that though, we share a family-like trust amongst each other. They are definitely the group of friends that I will go out of my way to help with anything if they needed it.

Then from there, the path of friendship branches off to more superficial things. I have friends that I only party with--these girls (and some guys) are only about clubbing, going to vacation hotspots, and attending trendy events. I could never really discuss with them serious subjects. They are kind of the ditzy Barbie types. They are super fun to be around, but then they also seem to come and go.

From there, I have friends from work. And it's funny, I say friends from work, because sometimes I wonder if I would ever keep in touch with them if I left work tomorrow. Sure, we are constantly in touch--probably more so than other friends. E-mail, phone, IM, text, etc.. they sure like to gossip, we go out for lunch in Fridays, and occasionally even hang out on weekends (usually involves attending an event). But I have a feeling that if I was to quit tomorrow, the whole system would come crashing down and everything will be dimmed down to weekly e-mail forwards funny photos and dirty jokes.

Then I have friends that I see often--sort of casual hang out friends. They live all live kind of close, and it would be fair to say that we are good friends. We go shopping together, goto the gym together, movies, coffees, dinners, etc etc.. and I know some will eventually be moved to the super close trusted friend status, and some not so much (for whatever reasons in life).

Quite the rant, I know... I just thought of this now, because I am taking a few of my super close friends down to Vegas in September, and not the usual clubbing/partying hoochies. They have never been, and I think it will be really fun :) I am excited that I will break their Vegas virginities. I probably will not hit the nightlife hard as I would with the usual suspects, but we will probably have a more "wholesome" kind of fun :p

Im gonna go out on a limb and say M&G = Meet and Greet... and ill be there, haha.

To answer the question i do have that in a sense. I have these guys that i have been friends with since we were younger and we all may not live in the same city anymore but we all still talk constantly. I would go out of my way for them any day.

After that i have my college fraternity brothers and i am very close with a lot of them. Even though they live in other cities also i keep in touch with them and go out with them but the 2 circles of friends sometimes intertwine because my close friends know a lot of them as well.

I guess what im saying is i have my 6 guys that we will always be there for, and then i have all my other buddies that are kind of on the "next tier".

Then i of course have my JC friends :D

Everyone after that is just people i see every now and then and hang with.

Wow. I completely missed there was a question in the OP. Everyone has different levels of friendship. Im on a couple of local MC forums here, and on one them, they all call each other family. EX. someone post "I broke down, and *member* gave me a ride"....next post "of course they did, cause were all family here". Its always crap like that.

One time someone started a thread like this one about "levels of friendship" and I couldnt resits. I posted, I visit this forum, because Im interested in motorcycles <<(tango was wondering), and the forum can make my day go by faster. If youve never been to my house, or at least have my phone #, then were probably not friends, and we defiantly are NOT FAMILY. :D

and i agree with you with the forums making life better. today would have been majorly sucky otherwise!

I have many different levels of friendship... 1 through 6, 5 being the highest. 6 is for those who think they're the highest level but are given filtered and often incorrect information LOL!

See for me I have my really "nice" friends. They like to make homemade bread and have dinner on the table by 6pm. Then I have my friends that like to party, drink and usually get me in trouble. I could never have a big party with all of my friends. The naughty friends would kill the nice ones!

And above all of them I have my "bitch's". I can call anytime day of night and they will be there for me and same for them.

Disclaimer: I am not insane. I don't see or hear imaginary people. I have the "SANE" stamp on my forehead to prove my sanity.

playing tour guide is fun and all, but breaking in vegas virgins mostly sucks i've realized (close friends or not)...either they'll go wayyy too hard on night one and spend the remainder of their stay in vegas curled up half naked on your bed in the fetal position, or they'll be super nits and unwilling to gamble, party and put strippers through college.
