I wanted to see if anyone know when the new tasting menus will be out? I've tried to search with no luck. I know the current one's end at the end of the month. Would like to see what's available before I leave in a week.

The fancier restaurants call their fixed price menus, tasting menus.

Looking to goto Joel Robouchon when i'm over there with one of the lads who's a chef.

Yeah MGM Grand, Mirage, Wynn, and Mandalay Bay all have them. But, the current ones they have posted on their websites all end on Aug 31st except Wynn I believe.

I'm pretty sure almost every fancy restaurant has a tasting menu. Just get ready to be bent over. Hard. :)

haha not you! i meant the chef who charges those prices for a meal for two people.

i know, i know.. it's an "experience." and i do enjoy fine dining (hey, at least to my standard). but there's no way a dinner for two, including wine, should cost $500.

i swear, food tv has built up these chefs up so much! a single piece of seared sea-scallop in celebrity chef's restaurant must go for $20 each.

$100 for two (including wine) is fair, in my opinion... with 50% up or down, depending on the ingredients and cooking level.

as a woman, i will tell you that expensive dinners are not impressive. if anything, it makes the man look foolish for being so careless with his money. i mean, maybe it might work with some women--the ones after your savings account, for example.

nobody likes a cheap-skate on a date, and certainly you should avoid being one. but i think if you took her out to a moderate restaurant (wolfgang puck, craftsteak, etc.), and shared a bottle of wine, no normal woman will expect much more.

the most important part is that she feels comfortable with you and you can make her laugh.

okay, enough of my inner dr.phil side for tonight :p

Hah...good thing cause I would not spend that dam much money on a meal. Yeah I agree at some point it's just showing off for a woman when you do something like that. You can have a very nice dinner for less than $200 at least in Atlanta.
