Actually I wanna start this trip report the week before. I started getting pumped for this, like REALLY pumped, on Saturday the 8th because I realized it was < 1 week before I would be out with boys in Sin City. I've been to vegas a few times before but this would be my first trip with just my high school boys and we normally do one trip every year. The other reason I got pumped was because I was at work working on my product which was to launch on Wednesday (and I fly out Thursday). After 2 weeks of working 15 hour days (startup life, what do u say) Vegas was welcome and Wednesday I left work early -- 6:45 pm... went to the barber with the music in my car blasting, me calling everyone to tell them im on vacation, updating my facebook status to tell the world "IM ON VACATION TO VEGAS" and pretty much realizing that ALL the boys were excited. Then I went to the mall and picked out some clothes to wear for the weekend because I'd not had a chance so far. Before I'm even on a plane I realize I've spent a few hundred... but hey... ITS VEGAS
Thursday AM:
7 AM -- after sleeping 4 hours (I really couldnt sleep from excitement), Ranjit calls that he's almost at my place with the other guys... FUCK I jump in the shower and quickly go downstairs get in a car and head to the airport. 8:25 AM flight -- we're there at 7:45. Southwest accepts bags till 30 mins before. My bags go in at 7:54 and the other 3 guys get their bags marked as "late" but the guy says they'll "probably" get to vegas on our flight. We run to the gate since we're the last ones through security - get on the flight and cant find seats together. But this is a guys trip -- we HAVE to be excited together. So we're yelling across aisles and seats -- everyone knows we're excited -- we're talking about meeting people, being guys, and just being drunk. I can't explain how slowly the first hour went ... but the last 30 mins were AMAZING. we just could not wait to get to vegas. Once landed, we're chest bumping each other looking at the signs for shows and saying shit like "THATS RIGHT we're gonna go hang out around thunder from down under to get those cougars" (which we never ended up doing) and just being stupid. It was amazing. Like a true bollywood movie... after the happy moment, things got serious... very serious... at the baggage claim carousel. Bags came, bags went... but ours did not appear. We waited in line at the claims office, filed a report, had our heads hanging low.. walked out after being told that the next flight comes in 3 hours and Southwest will drop off the bags 1-3 hours after that.
We get in a cab to go to the hotel after deciding that we're in vegas so we need to have a blast. We start talking about the clubs, about our hotel, about cougars, about prostitutes (and how to spot and avoid them), about JC (and how it would be to actually meet virtual friends in the real world). Oh, the cabbie told us he'd get us in to Rhino for free and we'd just have to pay for the cabride and ranjit chimed in with "but i heard, they'll send a free limo too" and the cabbie shut up.. so clearly... JC membership was already proving to be an asset.
We get to the Wynn where Ranjit and I went up to the front desk, found the most innocent looking cute girl and stuck in a $20 bill between my CC and Drivers License. She said "we'll deal with money after setting up your room but let me see what I can do for you". She put us on the 36th floor and offered the 55th floor for not too much more but we said what the hell. We got a golf course view, as well as a view overlooking the Encore Pools & XS. I'll post pix later in a video format . It was only 1 and we were clearly anxious about our bags so we started bothering the airline who kept saying they hadn't been found yet. We tried going downstairs, sitting by the pool, gambling at the blackjack tables but we could tell that no one was calm because we were anxious to get some nice clothes and dress it up already. Anyway... at 2:30 the airline called my cell phone and said the bags were found and they should be at the Hotel by 5. We blasted some music, did some chest bumps, gave each other some hugs and went down to the casinos where Ranjit and Rudrish made some money. The tides were turning, VEGAS knew that the bay had arrived.
In the mean time, I met up with a old buddy that I'd done business with and he hooked it up with some show tickets for the boys (Earl Turner @ the Hilton) as well as some contacts that would help for the rest of the weekend. Ranjit and I also head to Strip Liquor to pick up some mixers and some Svedka Vodka. We'd never had it but the guy at the store said it was as nice as Grey Goose but as cheap as Absolut so we said what the hell and bought a 1 liter botlle.
Thursday PM:
Bags came in at 5 PM as promised, all the boys took their showers, put their clothes on and were ready by 630 to head to the Hilton for the 7 PM show. We had no clue what this show was or who the hell Earl Turner was. We got some front row seats at the Shimmer Theater and here comes this dude singing oldies and classics from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. He could dance, he could move and he could sing. The crowd was pretty old but we had a good time warming up for the night that was to be.
At 9, we got back to the room, and started drinking. Svedka is real strong but smooth vodka. None of us had a hangover from it but got an amazing buzz. We head to the Venetian to meet the JC members and get into Tao. After gathering up (Daryll, Aaron, Warren, Patrick, Dustin, Ankit, Ranjit, Rudrish, Eric), we decided to scour the casino floor for girls to take in with us... but before we knew it, Daryll had found us a bachelorette party that made the ratio 2:1 for us. And I believe Ellejay and her friend joined us here too. So we pretty much walked into Tao 5 minutes later. It was beautiful. I've been to Tao before on a Friday and it was alright so my hopes weren't too high. We got to the buddha lounge area, grabbed a couple of drinks and then got to the dance floor. It was pretty empty but we could tell it would be a packed night. Since we were staying at the Wynn (next doors to venetian/palazzo), Ranjit and I quickly went back, took 4 shots each, and returned totally buzzing. Now the club was packed and we were ready to walk those floors. It was amazing meeting tons of new people and partying with the JC forum guys and girls. I'm not sure how we all got back home, but we all left at different times. I know I danced with a really cute girl for at least an hour (a few people have confirmed this) and when I was returning I had a little rendevouz with an interesting personality. I was walking back from Tao starting to unblur the night when I saw a girl walking alone looking extremely sad outside the Palazzo. I asked her what was wrong and she said she was from nyc and her friend had ditched her and she had to walk home alone... so I offered to walk her back to her hotel ... she said "why don't we just go back to your room" .... TADA... anyway it dawned on me but I was buzzed so I kept going "but i got a couple guys at my place"... she said "so what? u have a bathroom right?" ... "yeah... are u gonna ask me to pay u next ... cuz i dont do that" ... "SHHHHHHHH someone might hear us"... and that was that. i started drunk dialing friends till I got back to my room and passed out in the same bed as ranjit. thank god he doesn't like to cuddle.
more to come later.
oh... i have to describe the JC folks since ellejay started that tradition:
-Ranjit -- I've known him for years - he's my boy from middle school days so to me he still looks like a dork although most ladies find him tall and attractive.
-Aaron -- this boy knows how to party it up, meet people and get hooked up with free bottles everywhere he goes
-Warren -- what do you say -- suave, well dressed, flask-holding :P
-Patrick -- German, Gentlemanly, knows how to party. I do have to say, he doesn't like taking shot after shot -- he likes sipping on his drinks into a nice drunken state
-Dustin -- one of my other boys (Rudrish) had a man crush on him and kept asking if he was a model that was in a bunch of magazines. I dont know what that says... but I know the ladies dug him
-Ellejay -- birthday girl - tall, cute and a fun party-buddy :)
