I suppose its time I fall in line and produce an intro thread.

Name's Matthew from Toledo OH. First trip to LV was last December. I had a work conference at the Palazzo and brought my wife. Great trip overall - got to see a lot of the strip and got a hookup for several clubs. Checked out Voodoo, Coyote Ugly, Blush, and Rok. (Had WAAYY too much fun at Rok in the VIP with this chill guy we met who was in from Sydney and ended up missing one whole day of my conference)

So as I've posted before, we decided its time to go back and do it our way without the burden of work crap. Arriving the 8th staying until the 14th. On the agenda:
Judas Priest/Whitesnake
Studio 54 (staying at MGM)
Body English (Sunday school)
Wayne Brady
Carnival Court/Rockhouse
Voodoo
Tryst
and maybe an afterhours like Drais' or Seamless

I've enjoyed the hell out of reading some of the stuff on here. Been some good tips and just some straight up funny shit.

lol, not sure what you mean by "fake line". Reviews I've heard seem really split 50/50. I figure we're stayin there, getting in free, and just lookin for a place for our first night in LV after the concert, so it wouldn hurt to check it out.

I mean I realize its not in the league of say Trsyt, XS, Tao, Pure, etc, but we figure it would make a decent "opening round" to just get our dance on. My promoter connection was kinda sour on it as well - Is it really that bad?

its very bad, but like you say, its just a first night get your feet wet place and its not hindering you experiencing the top clubs then why not, but id rather actually just hang out at a casino bar if it was me.....welcome aboard

Sorry to be dense but I'd just like some clarification if you don't mind. What exactly is so bad about it? Is it that its just really unorganized getting in? Is it just a douch-y crowd? Sucky music/djs? Staff sucks? Too many tourists?

What is it that makes the place so horrible?

well first off if you have to wait in line at all skip it, like dnix said theres never a crowd in the place so its a fake line and theyre taking you over the coals. its not disorganized at all, the staff can be a little douchy, the crowd has always been rather small but I also havent been here in about 6 years, def ALOT of tourists, and the music is ok depending on what type you like and/or are looking for.....like I said if you have the attitude that youre in vegas and youre gonna have fun no matter where you are then it cant hurt but if youre looking for a top notch spot with a good crowd and great music id go elsewhere......but no matter what DO NOT pay to get into it.

/nod dnix and ny

was there in april... some of my group wanted to go there to see the place... i think it was even a saturday night... i was supposed to already be leaving vegas but my group convinced us to stay one more night... ended up at studio 54 around 11
place was dead... fake line outside... main dancefloor had people, but the place never really filled up completely and the vibe just didnt seem that great...

another alternative might be tabu ... the lounge at mgm... but from what ive heard from some of the mentors on here... that place is only average at best.

good luck irl

I agree on not bothering with Studio 54 - the only reasons I went there last year was cause I a) staying in NYNY b) had JUST gotten over my sickness/hangover from the night before at Tryst c) had no other plans. The place is really cheesy, the music selection is about five years behind and nothing really flows, and the crowd is kind of dead in that "I don't know what to do/why I'm here" sort of way.

Considering you're going to the Judas Priest/Whitesnake concert at the Thomas & Mack Center‎, why not just go to BE/Wasted Space instead? The Hard Rock's right there anyway.

Thanks for the info guys. I suppose BE's an idea, but we are goin there Sunday night (my girl's been waiting since last year to bust out her schoolgirl outfit :-D )

I guess we'll figure something out

If anything you could hit up Wasted Space so you dont do BE twice. WS is different than BE too
