So I was driving home last night after watching the ufc match. Getting off the highway I get pulled over and I thought well I'm screwed there goes Vegas this year. I had at least 12 coronas in my system and he asked if I had been drinking I sayed yeah I had a couple. So he gets me out of the car and gives me a series of test for about 15 min and says ok you did well, well your almost home I think you can make it. I get back in the car and I sayed well time to celebrate went to the store and got a six pack of coronas. So has anyone got a DUI ? Any close calls ? Just so everyone knows i am not proud of drinkng and driving.

What state? If you were in Cali you would of been screwed, 12 coronas would put you over the .08 limit. I'm glad he gave you a break since you aced your sobriety test

DAMN! You are one lucky dude! Here in AZ they have been known to give a DUI even if you are under the legal limit of .08, saying that you were still "impaired."
I'm pretty sure a first time offender gets 10 days in Tent City-which is basically what it sounds like, a bunch of tents, presumbly porta potties, and a bunch of pp in 110 + degree weather.
They are strict here. Twice I've been pulled over and neither time I was drinking. It was late and they used various excuses-took a wide turn-and they gave me the hardest time like "I smell alcohol," when I literally had nothing. They are very strict here I know a lot of pp who have gotten harsh sentences....charles barkley just did some time in tent city a couple months ago when he was pulled over in my town.

I've had a couple close calls, but with patience and mints, I was able to get off.

P.S: I'm glad you got out of that one!

Wow that sounds awful. I knew i smell like beer cause I spilled some on my shirt. So that's why I didn't lie about drinking.

Yea I'm not sure kc how people are going to respond to your thread my man. Driving while under the influence can be a touchy subject for alot of people Alot of families are torn apart by the loss of a loved ones being innocent victims from people who drive intoxicated.

Sometimes things are better left unsaid.

Drinking and driving is no joke, but just about everyone does it. It is tough to know when you had too much and that is what is scary.

I got pulled over once after drinking, i was a senior in college and just thinking how my life was going to be screwed. I only had a few drinks and im a pretty big guy, 6' 240. The cop asked me how much i have been drinking (passenger was wasted and could barely sit up straight) I told him around 4-5 beers and he asked me to get out. No test's or anything just blow in the breathalizer (sp?). I ended up blowing a .055 and he said go home and have a good night. SCARY.

As someone mentioned in an earlier post, this is a touchy subject.

Although you didn't get a DUI (which is great/lucky), a DUI is minimal vs potential manslaughter charges. Just be thankful you didn't harm anyone else and learn from the experience.

Another thought: a $20-$100 cab ride is much less than a $10k DUI (from legal charges, court charges, etc)...

Its a sad fact but its true. There are too many intoxicated people on the road. I was an idiot. I did it all the time in college and luckily nothing ever happened to me, but everyone did it back then. It was a smaller college town and it was just a known thing. I wouldnt do it now. I know too many people who have died in alcohol related accidents that it hurts when i hear about things like these. Too many good friends gone because either they were drunk, or they were the innocent ones being hit by someone drunk. Your apology in sincere and i know you didnt mean any wrong doing. It is a touchy subject.
