View Full Version : MJ memorial service
royaleo 07-06-2009, 03:15 PM This is really ridiculous but I just have to vent here. Tomorrow is the Michael Jackson memorial service and it's basically a glorified circus/concert.
My biggest gripe with this is that the major television networks are going to be interupting programing just to provide live coverage. I know that there's nothing on television during the daytime except for talk shows and soap operas but it's the princible of the matter.
First I had to endure Jon and Kate and now it's the MJ coverage. How come the media isn't providing more coverage on that Marine who was kidnapped by the Afganistan? What ever happened with North Korea? Is GM doing any better?
It just amazes me on whats newsworthy these days. Sorry, I'm just annoyed.
mikejet 07-06-2009, 03:20 PM What's worse are the people selling them on Ebay. The prices are crazy. I've seen them go as high as $50,000.00

Exactly! It's not a funeral service it's a spectacle.
Hes just a man, just like me. Did MJ or Elvis really impact my life? Are they influencing me on how to raise my kids? Am I a better person because of their music? NO NO and NO. In fact, I think Im probably a happier person than both of them put together.
But I really could care less. If it makes people feel better, then light some candles or something. :D

Which gets the people tuning in - reports on North Korea firing off rockets in tests that could affect an area all the way Hawaii... or Michael Jackson's funeral? Network/cable "News" stopped being informative twenty years ago when their parent companies saw that they could get some decent ad rates off the newscasts. If you want actual news, stick to BBC/NPR/news aggregaters

It's true but that's what annoys me. Oh well what can you do aside from turn it off?

yo vanilla 07-07-2009, 05:22 AM no kidding. meanwhile cap and trade passed through the house the day after jackson died, and no one even knows about it. y'know? and a hundred other news bits too, like the non-stop rockets.

ding ding ding, that was certainly a ploy....they saw their oppurtunity (no media attention) and jumped at it.....bastards!!! we are doomed!
yo vanilla 07-07-2009, 08:44 AM Well I noticed anyway. I wrote my congressman twice that week and again after the vote. And I wrote both senators too.
killerfanatics 07-07-2009, 08:59 AM I had to deal with the bullshit traffic going to work today. The school I work at is literally right down the street from the Staples Center. The only thing between us is the Convention Center. Damn helicopters everywhere. Shit's getting annoying.

You didn't take the day off to go?

Nah, not my thing. Plus you had to sign up for a drawing to be able to get inside the staples center. I thought it was going to be as bad as the Laker parade, but surprisingly it wasn't.
